The “Agripuglia” Project involves the construction of an agrovoltaic plant located in the Municipalities of Poggio Imperiale, Lesina, San Paolo di Civitate and Apricena. It is an ambitious project in which electricity production, soil and vegetation maintenance, instead of presenting themselves as alternatives to each other as they are often considered, are, instead, integrated and competing to achieve productivity and environmental objectives. For the realization of the Project, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed whose signatory parties are: Renewable Consulting s.r.l. (already part of a previous Agreement with the University of Foggia), Greencells Agrosolar s.r.l. and the Diocese of San Severo.
Each of them will contribute to the implementation of the project and, in particular:
- Greencells and Renewable Consulting, will deal with the technical profiles related to the development and construction of the agrovoltaic plant;
- the University will carry out research and experimentation activities aimed at identifying the most suitable crops for coexistence with a photovoltaic system;
- the Diocese will have the function of accompanying and training young people and disadvantaged people looking for work to a possible path of agricultural enterprise and / or learning new technical skills, also through the “Solar Operator” training process developed by Greencells Group in collaboration with the German Photovoltaik Institut Berlin and supported by KFW Bank for Development.
